i golfini della nonna was established in 1994 by Francesca &

Mariapia Basilico.

Originally a line of handknitted baby clothes, i golfini della nonna has evolved into so much more.

Although the clothes are now offered only at a few exclusive stores,

i golfini della nonna continues with its tradition of creating unique hand made products with it's stuffed animals, fingerpuppets and toys.

All toys are individually hand made in either 100% cotton or 100% alpaca and are made in Bolivia by indigenous women..

i golfini della nonna has been working with the same women's cooperative in Bolivia for over 12 years and was instrumental in creating a health insurance plan, dental care plan, day care, excercise programs and micro loans in an effort to improve the conditions of its craftswomen. Since each item is knit by hand, the women are able to work at home while tending to their families. Over the years many of the women have been able to change the quality of their life and that of their family. We are fortunate to have these amazing talented women working for us.

Many of i golfini della nonna's products have been featured in some of the best stores throughout the country as well as overseas. Some of our clients include Anthropologie, Barneys Japan, Garnet Hill, Moss & Takashimaya.
